How to make brushing teeth fun for kids
Getting your kids to brush their teeth isn't always easy. Explaining how essential oral care is just doesn't seem to be doing the trick. Kids thinking that brushing their teeth is something that they've got to do routinely makes the task seem boring to them.
Every day is a struggle for me to brush my kids' teeth. That's why I came up with some of these tips on how you can make tooth brushing fun for them.
CONSISTENCY and ROUTINE
As much as you want your kids to have fun while brushing their teeth, they have to know that tooth brushing is a daily routine and part of cleaning their body too. As they say, consistency is the key and in time they'll be able to get used to it.
BRUSH WITH THEM
We as parents have a great influence in our child's development and behaviours. We should always teach them by example and not just by words.
First, let them explore and practice brushing their teeth on their own. This helps them feel independent and in control. After making them feel comfortable, brush your teeth together with them and teach your kids the right way to clean their teeth.
PLAY MUSIC OR GAMES
Kids need to brush their teeth at least two minutes and that 2 minutes might seem long for them. One time I tried to play simple games or music with them while brushing, and it works. You can get their favorite toy and let them brush their toys 'teeth' or play their favorite song to help them feel comfortable and to make brushing fun for them.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT KIDS TOOTHPASTE
Kids will surely have fun and excited to brush their teeth if they see cute, colorful and fun looking toothpaste. That's why we chose and love Hapee Kiddie anti-cavity toothpaste because of its range of delicious flavours and colorful cute characters. And not only that Hapee kiddie toothpaste has the right amount of fluoride that's safe for our kids.
Brushing teeth is one of our bonding moments and I'm thankful that Hapee kiddie toothpaste always #MakeBrushTimeHapeeTime for us.
