Last weekend, I and hubby are invited to the 4th Batangas Food Festival and it was held in Matabungkay Beach Hotel. Since it's a 2-day event, they gave us a free overnight stay in one of their deluxe room.
(Check out our Batangas Food Festival experience here)
Upon arriving at the resort, we were welcomed and greeted by their friendly staff and they even gave us some welcome drinks.
Their reception, lobby area and their restaurant are just in one place. It looks like a big Bahay Kubo and with lots of kawayan or wooden furnitures, it surely gives a tropical ambience to the place.
After check-in, we went to our designated room. The room was huge and spacious. It has a double bed and a single bed that could fit a family of 4. It also has the usual amenities and complimentary that a hotel room should have.
We also toured some of their rooms and villas. We particularly liked their water villas. It's an overwater bungalow that has two double beds, a very nice bathroom, a veranda and a jacuzzi at the back of the villa. These villas cost P18,000 a night.
The resort has 3 pools, a big pool near the main accommodation building that has a pool bar on the side and some pool chairs. The other two pools are located near their restaurant, one pool is for kids and the other one for adults.
The resort offers plenty of beach and water activities. You can rent a paddle board, jet ski, kayaks, and go snorkelling or diving. They also have a covered balsa which you can rent.
Their sand in the beach is nice, not that powdery though but at least it doesn't have plenty of rocks or shells scattered. The water at the beach is shallow and has a lot of moss. If you really want to swim at their beach you have to walk far just to get to the deep parts of the water.
Back to the resort's other facilities. They have a big space full of trees and plants where you can just stroll around and chill. The resort is also a great venue for team building activities. They have a rock climbing wall, a basketball court, an archery range, and obstacle courses.
They also have a sports bar and gaming room where you can play billiards, darts and table tennis. Well, I think their facilities are more than enough to keep you entertained right?
For our food, we had their Batangas Food Festival buffet for our lunch and meryenda. For our dinner, we had their Batangas version of Chicken Tinola, Kilawin, Chicken and pork adobo and Buko Pandan. All the food we had was great.
To cap off our night, we headed to the beach for the Barikan by the Bonfire. Barikan means inuman or drinking session. The baristas made us different concoctions of drinks and cocktails that are made from some of Batangas Specialties. Like the Batangas Barako Coffee.
We chose to end the night with Chili Mojito. It’s a very refreshing drink with a little bit of kick of spiciness in it.
Our stay might be short but it was truly a fun-filled weekend with new cultural discoveries, sumptuous meals, and a break from the busy city life.
